why should a Muslim establish everyday 5 daily regular prayer?

ALLAAHu lazee la ilaha illa huwa

( ALLAAH, there is no God but He )

In previous part we have covered from Quranic verses now InshaALLAAH , we shall cover this topic from Hadith of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

1.) Narrated Talha bin ‘Ubaidullah:A man from Najd with unkempt hair came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and we heard his loud voice but could not understand what he was saying, till he came near and then we came to know that he was asking about Islam. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “You have to offer prayers perfectly five times in a day and night (24 hours).” The man asked, “Is there any more (praying)?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) replied, “No, but if you want to offer the Nawafil prayers (you can).” ……….. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If what he said is true, then he will be successful (i.e. he will be granted Paradise).”Sahih al-Bukhari 46

In this hadith ALLAAH ‘s Messenger (peace be upon him) taught him 5 pillars of islam, but the content I have cut it short for easy reading, for full hadith click this . The first thing ALLAAH ‘s Messenger (peace be upon him) taught was five times prayer . This proves the importance of As-Salat

(2)Narrated Abu Huraira:::I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him?” They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet (ﷺ) added, “That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds.“(Sahih al-Bukhari 528)

Now I have no words to explain this hadith. The hadith itself is sufficient to highlight the importance of 5 times prayer. Glory to ALLAAH.

(3)Narrated Anas bin Malik:::……………..On that the Irresistible said, “O Muhammad!” the Prophet replied, “Labbaik and Sa`daik.” Allah said, “The Word that comes from Me does not change, so it will be as I enjoined on you in the Mother of the Book.” Allah added, “Every good deed will be rewarded as ten times so it is fifty (prayers) in the Mother of the Book (in reward) but you are to perform only five (in practice).”……….(Sahih al-Bukhari 7517)

This is hadith of Isra wa Al Miraj (night journey). This is a long hadith which I have cut short for easy reading, for complete hadith check this Isra wa Al miraj (night journey) . It is highly recommended to read the complete hadith after reading this if anyone is praying irregularly by now he must have started praying 5 times or else he is making ALLAAH angry .

(4)Ibn Shibab reported:::Umar b. ‘Abd al-‘Aziz deferred the afternoon prayer somewhat and ‘Urwa said to him: Gabriel came down and he led the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in prayer. ‘Umar said to him: O ‘Urwa, are you aware of what you are saying? Upon this he (‘Urwa) said: I heard Bashir b. Abu Mas’ud say that he heard Abu Mas’ud say that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Gabriel came down and acted as my Imam, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him. then I prayed with him. then I prayed with him. reckoning with his fingers five times of prayer.(Sahih Muslim 610 a)

In entire Islamic literature Jibreel (peace be upon him) has not taught ALLAAH ‘s Messenger (peace be upon him) any obligation pillars as he did with As-Salat by teaching it personally with actions. From that it is apparent how important As-Salat is.

(5)Awf bin Malik Al-Ashja’i said:::”We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: ‘Will you not pledge to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?’ And he repeated it three times. So we stretched forth our hands to give our pledge. We said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we are willing to give you our pledge, but on what?’ He said: ‘That you will worship Allah and not associate anything with him, and (offer) the five daily prayers.’ And he said, very quietly: ‘And you will not ask the people for anything.'”Sahih (Darussalam)(Sunan an-Nasa’i 460)

In pledge after mentioning the Tawheed ALLAAH ‘s Messenger (peace be upon him) mentioned about five daily prayers which enhances the importance of As-Salat .

Surah Ibrahim(14), Verse 40:::”O my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my invocation.(English – Mohsin Khan)

ALLAAH knows best
