Why women wear long ropes and cover their head and only show their face’s?

La hawla wa la quwata illa billah (There is no might, no power except with ALLAAH)

we ask LORD of the HEAVENS and the EARTH to reward the Questioner .

(1) O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger,

(Qur’an – Surah Nisa (4) : verse 59)

Firstly it is command of ALLAAH,Azza Wa Jal & His Messenger (peace & blessings of ALLAAH be on him)

(2) ALLAAH has commanded in Qur’an to muslim women to cover themselves

(a)…not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.)…

(Qur’an – Surah Noor (24) : verse 31)

In this verse ALLAAH used the word “khimar” which means “to veil or conceal or cover a thing” and He,The Most Honorable one used this word “khimar” for women with word “Juyubi” which means “the uppermost part of the breast”. This means Muslim women has to cover or conceal their faces, bosoms, even eyes. because of the word “khimar” which ALLAAH has used  the below verse follows the same meaning

(b) O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e.screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful.

(Qur’an – Surah Al-Ahzab (33) : verse 59)

(3) From the above verses it is clear that women are commanded to cover themselves, Even tough the word juyubi meant only to face, eyes, bosom but women are commanded to cover or conceal their entire body like she concealed her face, eyes, bosom, she should not display any part of her body because of following ahadith

(a) the hadeeth in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are three, do not ask me about them: a man who leaves the jamaa’ah, disobeys his leader and dies disobedient; a female or male slave who runs away then dies; and a WOMAN WHOSE HUSBAND IS ABSENT AND LEFT HER WITH EVERYTHING SHE NEEDS, AND AFTER HE LEFT SHE MADE A WANTON DISPLAY OF HERSELF. DO NOT ASK ABOUT THEM.”

reference : al-Haakim, 1/119; Ahmad, 6/19; from the hadeeth of Faddaalah bint ‘Ubayd. Its isnaad is saheeh and it is in al-Adab al-Mufrad

(b) Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “During the last days of my ummah there will be women who are clothed but naked, with something on their heads like the humps of camels. Curse them, for they are cursed.” Another hadeeth adds: “They will not enter Paradise or even smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be detected from such and such a distance.”

Narrated by Muslim from the report of Abu Hurayrah

(c) Yahya related to me from Malik from Muslim ibn Abi Maryam from Abu Salih that Abu Hurayra said, “Women who are naked even though they are wearing clothes, go astray and make others go astray, and they will not enter the Garden and they will not find its scent, and its scent is experienced from as far as the distance travelled in five hundred years.”

reference : malik muwatta Book 48, Hadith 7

(4) And stay quietly in your houses, and make not a dazzling display,…

Surah Al-Ahzab (33) : verse 33)

Conclusion: Muslim women have to cover themselves from their head to the toe according to BOOK OF ALLAAH & Sahih Ahadeeth. In that result you can see women wear Long cloth (jilbab) which covers their entire body.
