I see people around me some trim their beard keeping it small, some leave more length, some people shave off the beard. Can I know that is there any hadith which give the length of the beard?

ANSWER

*it is sunnah to praise ALLAAH, Azza Wa Jal before starting*

Surah Taha(20), Verse 5:
الرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَىٰ

(Allah) Most Gracious is firmly established on the throne (of authority).
(English – Yusuf Ali)

It is sunnah of Prophets (peace on them) of ALLAAH, Azza Wa Jal,

ALLAAH said

Surah Taha(20), Verse 94:

He [Harun (Aaron)] said: “O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: ‘You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!’ ”
(English – Mohsin Khan)

From the verse if we carefully observe ALLAAH mentioned the beard first and then head even tough in general beard is below the head . From this, It is important to be noted, how beard is important

LENGTH :-

If you ask about the length of the beard, there is not a single hadith which mentions about the particular length of beard in fact prophet(صلى الله عليه و سلم) said

(a) It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Trim the mustache and let the beard grow.”

Sahih (Darussalam)

reference : Sunan an-Nasa’i 15

(b) It was narrated from ‘Aishah that:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Ten things are part of the Fitrah: Trimming the mustache, trimming the nails, washing the joints, letting the beard grow, using the Siwak, rinsing the nose, plucking the armpit hairs, shaving the pubes, and washing with water (after relieving oneself).” Mus’ab bin Shaibah said: “I have forgotten the tenth, unless it was rinsing the mouth.”

Sahih (Darussalam)

reference : Sunan an-Nasa’i 5040

Conclusion : The LENGTH of the beard is LET IT JUST GROW

Alhamdulillah

ALLAAH knows best
